Glover and Smith fossil stud earrings are handmade from solid, polished lead-free English pewter which is non-tarnishing (that was the lead in old pewter) and are guaranteed nickel-free and allergen friendly. We use solid Sterling silver ear hooks. Our 95% tin Pewter is the fourth most expensive metal in common use after platinum, gold and silver.
Because we use solid pewter the surface of your ammonite stud earrings will never flake like a silver plated earrings. To clean just wash with warm soapy water and occasionally use a silver cloth on the silver wires.
